If you are a home owner you have various options to choose from in order to get Internet. Some of the options for you to get free internet at home are checking through all the ISP service providers and looking at what packages they offer for your home Internet.
Dial-up is a way to get cheap Internet where you only need a phone line to get connected to the Internet. They provide 56 Kbps or lower speeds and you will have to have a modem connected to your computer so that your telephone line can ring up your ISP provider. This type of system is called the handshaking mode.
However there may be problems to getting access if many other users are dialing up the same number. Check with your neighbors and see what Internet connections they are using. Broadband Internet is much faster and can provide up to 256 Kbps speed. Types of connections are - DSL, Cable, Wireless and Satellite.

You can also view high flash websites, download songs or movies, and play games. Keep in mind that this isn't a free Internet service. The disadvantages are you can't get DSL in all areas because you need a telephone line, your speed decreases the farther you get from a phone company, and the price is higher than dial up.
The best thing about Cable Internet is that it is faster than dial up connections. You can access the Internet at any time, and you can download movies, music, images and songs as well as play games. The disadvantages are that you can only obtain this connection through your cable TV service provider. The cost is rather high and it can't be used when traveling.
While not a free home Internet service, Wireless Internet doesn't require cables for connection. With this option you have access to the Internet when traveling and the surfing speed is higher than dial up. The disadvantage to it is that it is more expensive and it is dependent on the weather for optimum performance. ISDN (Integrated Service Digital Network) is another option.
The advantage of this is that it uses the traditional phone line for connection and there's no need for cable, data can be transferred at 128 Kbps speed and the price is low. The disadvantages are that it is not always connected. You have to know the phone tariffs for calls and you cannot use this connection on the go.
It is great if you can find a free home internet service providers. However, whatever type of home Internet connection you choose will also depend on where you live especially if you are in a remote area. The connection you want may not be available in your area.
So when you are ready to get connected to the Internet check with your phone company and see what options they suggest to you. Then be sure that you have everything you need to make the connection.
