As we advance in modern day medical breakthroughs we are finding more information about what works best for breast cancer treatment. It is now understood through breast cancer research that a large factor in a woman's risk of getting breast cancer is her ancestry and hormonal history. While this is important information we know that the reason women get cancer is not strictly hereditary.
We cannot do anything about who our mom and dad are or where they came from but we can take other precautions to guard against this disease. We are, however, using this information to discover the most effective type of chemotherapy and other protocols for the different forms of cancer.
There are other components, not as simple as heredity, to consider in evaluating our vulnerability to breast cancer. Diet plays a large part in preventing breast cancer. Things that we take for granted in our everyday life like cooking our food in plastic or styrofoam containers in the microwave are suspected to be cancer causing.
The additives to our foods and the chemicals used while they are grown are highly probable to be villains to our bodies. Clinical studies have shown that the average person in the USA has over 200 synthetic chemicals flowing throughout their system daily. These are vital points to consider in obtaining the cancer help we desire.
It is known that stress is a killer. Breast cancer research has discovered that stress weakens the immune system and our cellular activity. Those that choose to live a happy life have a better chance of living a long life, cancer free. That is why even our western minded medical doctors are coming around to the idea that treatments such as meditation, yoga and art or music therapy, in addition to chemotherapy, can be beneficial to the health of breast cancer patients.
Maybe stress is not the biggest breast cancer cause but when combined with an hereditary predisposition it can lead to life threatening disease. Most of us don't take time to play enough in our lives. We take life so seriously. Some doctors believe that this is possibly one of the unacknowledged breast cancer causes. We are very busy making a living, working toward financial goals and raising families; living life all stressed out.
One of the biggest lessons that cancer survivors share is that they learned to enjoy more of the little things in life. As one woman, Diane, shared, "Life is too sweet and short to live it stressed out over every little thing that doesn't go as we thought it should". She says she used to get ticked off when she hit too many red lights going to work or at drivers hogging the road. Now she just laughs.
Laughter is healing to our bodies and minds. One woman who is still in treatment for her breast cancer decided she would start doing something with her natural ability to make people laugh. She has a fabulous sense of humor. So she started writing a book of funny stories. It started as a form of therapy for her during her rugged chemotherapy treatment.
But, when she shared it with her family and friends they were so tickled with it they encouraged her to keep it up and then have it published. She is in the process of doing just that. Whether it's writing short stories, poems, a novel or journaling, writing is an excellent complimentary therapy during cancer treatment. It's also beneficial to those of us without breast cancer.
Breast cancer research has found that the patients that got involved in their lives and explored things that they enjoyed gave them cancer help and a better chance of winning over breast cancer. Chemotherapy isn't the only way to heal the body of cancer.
Whatever the breast cancer causes are we can improve the quality of our lives by living each day eating healthfully, finding ways to reduce stress, laughing a lot and doing things that make us feel happy to be alive. Also know that we can play an active part in our health to prevent this and other physical challenges.
