Facebook is a social platform where friends and family can stay in touch with each other and where they can play games online. I know the marketing community has raped Facebook with all their make money schemes and shiny objects. What these marketers do not get is they are selling to marketers.
The regular users of Facebook are not interested in the next big marketing product that will build your own business, advertise itself, and auto generate millions all on auto pilot. These people are there to play games and interact with friends and family.
The only people buying are other marketers because all the big boys said go create a facebook account for marketing, the big boys then turn around and market their products to all those marketers.

The stores’ quick failure shows that the Menlo Park, California-based social network doesn’t drive commerce and casts doubt on its value for retailers, said Sucharita Mulpuru, an analyst at Forrester Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. “There was a lot of anticipation that Facebook would turn into a new destination, a store, a place where people would shop,” Mulpuru said in a telephone interview. “But it was like trying to sell stuff to people while they’re hanging out with their friends at the bar.”
